ANALOGUE TRIO – 7 SONG cd Recorded at Cove Studios, Rockport, MA, October, 2000 Oh geez- it’s jazz- shut that krappe off. NO, no- it’s just a joke. I was raised on that stuff. Now you’ve got to understand, this isn’t exactly what I’d call **jazz**. Sort of bluesy jamming in jazz clothing- all instrumental, no vocals. Nice. How ‘bout it’s all good? How ‘bout it’s all A.O.K.? How ‘bout I leave off the labels and tell you how good the drummer’s(Derek Sanchioni) groove is and how the bass player(Chris Chesna) does his job and doesn’t get in the way of the main focal point: the guitarist(Mike Loce). Got some swell little Arabic scalic bits on “Egyptian Ruin” and “SweeBop” breezes along nicely. Speaking of breeze, we’ve got some windy sound FX on “Beyond” and “Dejonnaise” has some zippy flat nine chords romping along a slightly altered 1-4-5 thang. Sounds like a gas, man! (many finger snaps!). –L.A. Joe, Boston Soundcheck Magazine
Analogue Trio – Analogue Trio. With their debut EP this Boston based band has come up with an intriguing collection of tunes that while based in jazz have a jam band quality and lots of flourishes that really set them apart. Among the highlights are the Be-Bop flavored “Sweebop”, the smoky nightclub groove of “Kava Kava”, “Egyptian Ruin” with it’s Arabic flourishes and the snappy “Denonnaise” featuring some excellent guitar work from Mike Loce. The “trio” has recently replaced their drummer who moved to NY, have become the Analogue Quartet with the addition of sax/clarinet and recorded a new disc. I’ve yet to hear the new stuff but look forward to seeing how the changes have affected their sound. – Geoff Melton. The Music Korner is a webzine devoted to covering virtually all styles of music.
